5 September 2018 I feel so exhausted day
Yesterday we visited the sister town of Puebla, called Cholula. This is another small town with colorful buildings, just 9 km away. Well, Cholula is famous for a beautiful Church built on top of the largest pyramid in the world.
When the Spanish conquered Latin America, they destroyed everything of the indigenous people. They destroyed their temples and built a church on top. We saw other examples of this in Ecuador & Peru. So, I wonder why they didn’t completely destroy this great pyramid? Just some thoughts I had on the bus to Cholula.
We bought a ticket and walked through the tunnels under the great pyramid. Godman! They are so creepy. When I was inside, I wanted to walk as fast as I could to escape this place. It is tiny and I almost hit my head. The height of the tunnel is just 6ft tall, which is about my height. Sometimes, I even had to bend down to protect my head.
Haha …, now I know why the Spanish didn’t destroy the pyramid. It is way too big and it is built of stone. It is 400 meters on each side. How could they possibly destroy something so large? Haha… Well, it doesn’t really look like a pyramid now anyway. It is just the ruins.
The church on top was covered with a white tent so you can’t really see it. Which is waste of time? Mexico also had an earthquake recently, so a lot of buildings were closed for maintenance.
After we got back to Puebla, I was searching the Sanborns Mall to buy Cuban cigars for my friends. We went to 4 outlets but they didn’t have the Cuban cigars my friend wants. What a long day and I couldn’t find the cigars. 🙁
I Googled where to get cigars in Mexico and read that most of them are fake. Sanborns has REAL cigars but they have a very limited selection.
If anyone knows where I can buy the REAL Romeo & Juliet Cuban cigars in Mexico, please let me know. Thank you.
